Located in the southeast of North China Plain, Xuzhou is a prefecture-level city in northwestern Jiangsu province of China. It is an important rail and manufacturing center.

Xuzhou is the main coal producing area. Jiangsu is one of the biggest clay producers in China and its production of natural crystal tops the country. Ilmenite, titanium-niobium and rutile have been found in recent years whose reserves also top the country.
