Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei Province, has long been renowned as the City of Rivers. Lying at the confluence of the Yangtze and its tributary, the Han River, Wuhan is actually composed of three cities: Wuchang on the south bank of the Yangtze, the former treaty port of Hankou to the north-west and Hanyang on the southeast side.
Wuhan is rich in culture and history. Its civilization began about 3,500 years ago, and is of great importance in Chinese culture, military, economy and politics.
