Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States, located in the District of Columbia, by the side of the Potomac River between Virginia and Maryland. The city is named after George Washington, who was military leader of the American Revolution and the first President of the USA. The city of Washington, DC is home to a huge number of statues and monuments, including include the Capitol, White House, and Library of Congress. The city is also the center of a metropolitan area with a population of around 0.6 million. Washington is the legislative, administrative, and judicial center of the USA.
