Phuket is the biggest island in Thailand, located in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of the Malay Peninsula.
The island is mostly mountainous with a range of mountain in the west of the island from the north to the south.
70 percent of the island is covered by forest. The western coast has several sandy beaches, while on the east coast beaches are more often muddy.
Phuket Island is an ideal place to spend holidays with family. In the mountainous north of the island is the Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Sanctuary, protecting more than 20 square km of rainforest. Patong Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Phuket since
most of Phuket's nightlife and its cheap shops are located here. Other stunning beaches lie in south of Patong such as Karon Beach, Karon Beach, Kata Noi Beach and Bang Tao Beach.
