Valencia is situated by the side of the eastern spanish Mediterranean coastline. It is Spain's third largest city and capital of the province of Valencia. The city was founded by the Romans in 137 BC on the site of a former Iberian town, by the river Turia. Nowadays, Valencia has a population of around 800,000 people. Valencia is about 352 km from either Madrid to the west or Barcelona, to the north.
