Bandung, a city full of flowers, is located about 190 km in the southeast of Jakarta. It is the provincial capital of West Java and the third largest city in Indonesia. Bandung is surrounded by mountains around, giving the city a pleasant climate all year round. Bandung is known as Parijs van Java because of its nature beauty. Bandung is also renowned for its shopping for shoes, denims, clothing and textiles.

The city of Bandung has a variety of old art buildings, beautiful parks, and fine landscapes. Mt. Tangkuban Perahu is Bandung's most famous volcano about 30 km north of the city. Mt. Tangkuban Perahu has a unique shape of an upside down boat. The town of Ciwidey itself is just 20 km away from the center of Bandung. The hill town of Lembang is renowned for its pleasant climate and abundant flowers, fruits and vegetables. Architects of the Amsterdam School include Van der Mey, De Klerk, Luthman and Kramer. Mang Udjo's "Angklungs" are well known for his fine workmanship. Banten has some relics to boast its past grandeur including the palaces of Surosowan and Kaibon, the grand mosque of Mesjid Agung Banten, a Dutch fortress and an old Chinese temple.
