Sao Paulo is melting pot of difference races, nationalities. With around 13 million inhabitants, it is the largest city in South America. São Paulo became one of the first cities in Brazil to encourage immigration of Chinese, Italians and Japanese, and later eastern Europeans, Spanish, Portuguese, and Germans. Sao Paulo and another Brazilian city, Rio de Janeiro, is usually compared to New York and Los Angeles respectively.
